Our Elizabethans were wasting away, we saw it and did something about it
Ing. Václav Benedikt took over the management of Alžbětiny lázní as in January 2019. In the past decades, despite the efforts of the employees, the operation was on the verge of sustainability, the building was left without repairs and gradually fell into disrepair. Thanks to an exceptional team of workers, from Dr. Maulen to balneo operation, rehabilitation, shop, pool, maintenance to cleaning and warehouse management, thanks to a team that can be easily compared to a closed family, the spa can still function.
The spa will not be sold
In 2018, the city management said: "STOP the loss of essential values". The management of the city of Karlovy Vary will not support chaotic property sales, as was the case in the past, and so Ing. Václav Benedikt, chairman of the board of directors of Alžbětiny lázní a.s., and Mrs. Mayor Ing. Andrea Pfeffer Ferklová, MBA, and the city management agreed that the last spa would not be sold or prepared for an outside investor.
Alžbětiny lázně – the only traditional city spa with a comprehensive offer
Elizabeth's Spa is the only provider of a unique public service. The city management reflects this fact with regular financial support to guarantee that this public service will be continuously provided without interruption, especially in a crisis period when health and mobility must be preserved and people must be compensated for injuries and illnesses. And so far it's been successful. During the state of emergency, in the spring of 2020, Alžbětina's spa was the only still accessible outpatient rehabilitation facility in the region.
Much behind us, even more ahead
Ing. Václav Benedikt prepares projects for the gradual reconstruction of the building and operation and submits them to the city council under the authority of the general meeting for approval and implementation. What exactly is it about? Replacement of all windows and doors, complete reconstruction of the roof sheathing and truss, general reconstruction of the elevator, repairs of corridors, procedure cabins and there will be much more.
Age doesn't really matter
The idea that spa care is for the old and sick is wrong and fortunately no one believes it anymore. Spas are for everyone who needs them for specific health problems as well as for everyone who appreciates the side effects for prevention and mental well-being.
